U2 announce world tour

Earlier this year, U2 released their new album Songs of Innocence for free to 500 million people via iTunes. There was a little bit of backlash due to a delivery method that was seen as being a little invasive, but the worst that came out of it was everyone got a new U2 album, whether they wanted it or not. And you don’t get to pull a stunt like that without knowing that at least one or two million of those people definitely want it.

In 2015, U2 will bring the Songs of Innocence live experience to those several million people with the iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE world tour. Starting in May, the band will be hitting up 19 cities throughout the world, and will spend at least two nights in each city — or three or four, depending on the city. Bono is currently recovering from surgery after a cycling accident that took place in Central Park last month, but he’s expected to fully recover before the tour launches.
