Grönland to release Holger Czukay box set, Cinema

Grönland is releasing a box set compiling music from throughout Holger Czukay‘s career. Titled Cinema, the five-LP retrospective is being released on March 23, one day before what would have been the influential Can bassist’s 80th birthday. The box set includes music from his solo albums, including 1979’s Movies, as well as his single with Conny Plank as Les Vampyrettes, his collaborative album with Jaki Liebezeit and Jah Wobble, and other material from throughout his career, including an unreleased track with Holger Schüring Quintett.

The box set also includes a book of previously unreleased photos, as well as a biography written by Mojo‘s Ian Harrison. The box also features the DVD, “Krieg der Töne,” which is described as “a musical slapstick comedy and poetic film about discovering your own style and the magic of sounds that starred Holger Czukay as himself in an alternate reality.” Take a look at the full tracklist below.
