Jemina Pearl announces debut album details, MP3 - 07.27.2009

Jemina Pearl, the adorably bratty front-lass for now defunct Tennessee punk rockers Be Your Own PET, has announced she will be releasing her debut solo album this fall. Pearl's new album, Break It Up, will hit shelves Oct. 6 through Ecstatic Peace/Universal. The album promises to maintain the sassy attitude of Be Your Own PET albums such as Get Awkward, while displaying a newfound adherence to pop melody. Pearl duets with Iggy Pop on the upcoming single "I Hate People," and "Selfish Heart" has been compared to the Shangri-Las and Undertones alike. We like the sound of that!

Tracklist:

1. Heartbeats
2. After Hours
3. Ecstatic Appeal
4. Band On The Run
5. I Hate People (with Iggy Pop)
6. Looking For Trouble
7. Retrograde
8. Nashville Shores
9. No Good
10. D Is For Danger
11. Selfish Heart
12. Undesireable
13. So Sick

Ecstatic Peace has also made "I Hate People" available to listen, wayyyy before the album even comes out. Check it out!

Coldplay to appear on The Simpsons - 07.27.2009

The Simpsons has had a pretty amazing series of guest musicians on episodes throughout its 20 year span, ranging from Michael Jackson (under alias John Jay Smith), Johnny Cash, Aerosmith, N*Sync, The White Stripes, 50 Cent, Kid Rock to our personal favorite "Hulabalooza" guest bands Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, Cypress Hill and Peter Frampton ("awww, c'mon Mr. Frampton, you're not going to eat ALL that watermelon"). Rolling Stone is now reporting that Coldplay will appear on an upcoming episode as themselves. After Homer wins the lottery, he hires the band to perform a private show for himself and Bart.

We applaud the band for this news, though we all know that rock music achieved perfection in 1974.

Video: Arctic Monkeys "Crying Lightning" - 07.27.2009
For a song that's brand new, Arctic Monkeys' "Crying Lightning" sure has been covered by a lot of duded playing bass in their dorm rooms! But there's also a real video for the new single from the band's third album Humbug, due next month on Domino Records. We suggest you watch this, unless you prefer YouTube open mic versions better.
