MGMT reveal Congratulations details - 02.09.2010
In retrospect, we probably should have expected to see acid-fried synth-pop duo MGMT become international megastars when they released debut album Oracular Spectacular. So, there's a lot of people out there who will be excited to learn the details behind their new album, which is called Congratulations and is being released April 13.
As reported in Spin, a primary inspiration behind the new songs was surfing, save for Lady Gaga homage "Lady Dada's Nightmare." Other notable exception: the title track, which touches upon the "world economic crisis." And the track titled "Brian Eno" has something to do with vampires.
Tracklist:
1 It's Working
2 Song for Dan Treacy
3 Someone's Missing
4 Flash Delirium
5 I Found a Whistle
6 Siberian Breaks
7 Brian Eno
8 Lady Dada's Nightmare
9 Congratulations

Thermals release "Canada" single - 02.09.2010
After a lousy show in Buffalo, the members of the Thermals found consolation in having Canada be the next locale on their tour itinerary. And with that cross-border paradise just a short drive away, they wrote a song called "Canada."
Kill Rock Stars just released the single digitally today, and you can listen to it right here!
The band is also planning the release of their follow up to last year's Now We Can See, titled Personal Life. It's due Sept. 5, and features production by Death Cab For Cutie's Chris Walla.

Sage Francis to release new album with indie rock guests - 02.09.2010
Underground rapper Sage Francis already kind of looks like he could be a member of Band of Horses. Dude's got a beard and everything. But, let's not forget, he raps. However, Francis has announced his plans to release a follow-up to 2007's Human the Death Dance, and those plans include a ton of indie rock guest stars. New album Li(f)e is set to be released May 11 on Anti- Records, and each song finds Francis paired with indie rock heavyweights like Calexico's Joey Burns and John Convertino, Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla, the Califone starting lineup, ex-Grandaddy frontman Jason Lytle, and Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous.
Tracklist:
1 Little Houdini (written by Sage Francis and Jason Lytle)
2 Three Sheets to the Wind (written by Sage Francis and Chris Walla)
3 I Was Zero (written by Sage Francis, Richard Terfry, Brian Deck, Tim Rutili, Jim Becker, and Gordon Patriarca)
4 Slow Man (written by Sage Francis, Joey Burns, and John Convertino)
5 Diamonds and Pearls (written by Sage Francis, Thomas Hagerman, Shawn Gilbert, Jeanie Schroder, and Nicholas Iurata)
6 Polterzeitgeist (written by Sage Francis, Tim Rutili, Jim Becker, and Brian Deck)
7 The Baby Stays (written by Sage Francis and Tim Rutili)
8 16 Years (written by Sage Francis, Kurt Read, Brian Deck, Tim Rutili, Jim Becker, and Gordon Patriarca)
9 Worry Not (written by Sage Francis and Tim Fite)
10 London Bridge (written by Sage Francis & Chris Walla)
11 Love The Lie (written by Sage Francis & Mark Linkous)
12 The Best of Times (written by Sage Francis & Yann Tiersen)
