Frank Zappa catalog to be reissued - 06.11.2012


Consequence of Sound reports that Universal Music is launching a campaign to reissue Frank Zappa's massive back catalog, starting in July. The reissue series, which contains more than 60 releases, begins July 31 with Zappa's 1966 debut Freak Out! through 1972's Just Another Band from L.A..

The remaining catalog will be released in monthly chunks through the end of 2012. Here's the list of the first 12 albums to be released.

Moonface's "Faraway Lightning," from new album With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery, is a lovely stop-motion puppetry clip that, according to director Marsha Balaeva, "tells a story of heartbreak in metaphors relating to the five stages of grief starting with denial." Check it out below.



Stream the new Fiona Apple album - 06.11.2012


Next week, Fiona Apple releases The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do, her first new album since 2005's Extraordinary Machine, which makes it one of the year's most highly anticipated recordings. Right now, however, you can stream the whole thing over at NPR.

Animal Collective announce tour dates - 06.11.2012


Animal Collective returns this fall with a new album, Centipede Hz, due Sept. 4 via Domino Records. And in support of the album, AnCo will be playing a few weeks of North American tour dates, followed by a few weeks of European tour dates.

Radiohead & Jack White Supercollide? - 06.11.2012


In case you missed it over the weekend, Thom Yorke announced Radiohead had met with Jack White while in Tennessee for their Bonnaroo appearance over the weekend, dedicating 'Supercollider' to him, saying:

"This song is for Jack White. We saw him yesterday. A big thank-you to him, but we can't tell you why. You'll find out."
