Thurston Moore joins black metal supergroup Twilight - 07.30.2012

There aren't many limits for a musician like Thurston Moore, and the Sonic Youth frontman has proven that with the news that he's joined Twilight, the North American black metal supergroup. In an interview with the 1st Five, Blake Judd of Twilight and Nachtmystium confirmed that Moore will be performing on the band's next album:

"You know Century Media could offer us a hundred thousand dollars to make that Twilight record and say: 'Blake, you get ninety percent of that money but Thurston Moore's not gonna be on the record, or, you can be on it and we'll give you ten grand and that's what you have to make it work.' And I would, I would take the ten grand and work with Thurston. That's like how much I love Sonic Youth."

The band's new album will also feature producer Sanford Parker, Stavros Giannopoulos from the Atlas Moth, Wrest of Leviathan and Imperial from Krieg. Judd also said that he hopes to get contributions from Aaron Turner of Isis and Malefic from Xasthur.

Unfortunately, Judd also essentially said that Sonic Youth is broken up in the interview. While it's not official word from Moore, Kim Gordon, Steve Shelley or Lee Ranaldo, it's definitely not encouraging to hear.

Video: Frankie Rose - "Know Me" - 07.30.2012
The sci-fi themed video for Frankie Rose's "Know Me," from new album Interstellar, puts the singer/songwriter in a dystopian sci-fi atmosphere where everyone wears virtual reality goggles. It was directed by Ricardo Rivera, and produced by Urban Outfitters, and is pretty cool on the whole. Watch it below.
