Moogfest lineup revealed - 08.06.2012


The lineup to this year's Moogfest, being held Oct. 26 and 27 in Asheville, N.C., has just revealed its lineup this year, and it's more all over the place than ever. Primus is headlining, with their new 3-D audiovisual production, which should be interesting at least. The lineup also includes Orbital, Santigold, Squarepusher, Explosions in the Sky, The Magnetic Fields, Four Tet, Divine Fits, GZA presents Liquid Swords, Pantha Du Prince, Thomas Dolby, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Actress, Cold Cave, EL-P, Mouse on Mars, Prefuse 73 with Teebs, Bear in Heaven, Killer Mike, Blondes and Julia Holter.

Temporary Residence to release William Basinski 'Disintegration Loops' vinyl box - 08.06.2012


Temporary Residence is preparing the release of a huge, 9xLP box set of William Basinski's Disintegration Loops series. The release of the box set, on Sept. 4, marks the 10-year anniversary of the ambient series, which was released in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, and also marks the impending induction of the series into the National September 11th Memorial and Museum this fall.

The remastered set,limited to 2,000 copies, will also contain 5 CDs, a 63-minute DVD, and a 144-page coffee table book, with photos and words by Basinski, Antony Hegarty, David Tibet (Current 93), Ronen Givony (Wordless Music) and Michael Shulan (National September 11 Memorial & Museum).

Basinski's Disintegration Loops are a unique and strangely beautiful series that document the gradual disintegration of analog tape, and the music, over the course of each composition's duration, comes to an end through inevitable decomposition.

UPDATE: via Facebook, Temporary Residence says not all of the details of the box set are confirmed just yet. Some of the info reported so far might not be entirely accurate, but full details and a pre-order will be made available within 24 hours.

Isis plan rarities compilation - 08.06.2012


Atmospheric sludge metal titans Isis broke up shortly after the release of their 2009 album Wavering Radiant, but there apparently is still some material from their vault that's yet to see the light of day. On Nov. 6, the band will release a compilation titled Temporal, which will feature rarities, unreleased tracks, remixes and other goodies, via Ipecac.

No tracklist or artwork has been revealed as of yet.
