Adam Yauch's will prohibits use of Beastie Boys music in advertising - 08.09.2012


The late Adam Yauch, aka MCA of the Beastie Boys, took great care in preserving the group's legacy, it turns out. DNAInfo reports that Yauch's will prevents the group's music from being used in advertisements.

Yauch's will was filed on Tuesday in a Manhattan Surrogate Court, and places his assets in a $6.4 million trust for his wife and daughter. His wife has been given the right to sell and/or retain control of his art.

Red Fang announce North American tour - 08.09.2012


Portland stoner rockers Red Fang have announced another long round of tour dates in support of their excellent 2011 album, Murder the Mountains. They'll have a few shows in August and September, but will launch their fall tour in October.

Red Hot, Pitchfork announce Arthur Russell tribute compilation - 08.09.2012


The Red Hot Organization, in collaboration with Pitchfork, have announced a new covers compilation celebrating the music of Arthur Russell. The compilation follows 2009's Dark Was the Night album, and as with all Red Hot compilations, will benefit the fight against AIDS (Russell died of complications from AIDS in 1992).

The compilation is being funded via Kickstarter, and will feature a wide selection of musicians covering tracks from Russell's catalog that span from his avant-disco period to his art-pop of the late '80s and early '90s. Among the artists on board to contribute to the album are Robyn,
