Yo La Tengo announces new EP, working on new album - 09.07.2012
On Sept. 25, Yo La Tengo is releasing a new 12-inch EP titled Stupid Things via Matador. It will contain the title track, an instrumental and a remix by EYE from Boredoms. The version of "Stupid Things" that appears on the EP will be a different version that will appear on the band's next full-length.
And while we're talking about that, Yo La Tengo is working on their follow-up to Popular Songs, which, according to an interview in the Philadelphia Inquirer, will be out in January. The album is being produced by Tortoise's John McEntire.

The Pains of Being Pure At Heart are releasing their first new single since the release of 2011 album Belong, and its A-side is a Magnetic Fields cover. The single, "Jeremy" b/w "My Life Is Wrong" (East River Pipe cover), comes out Oct. 9 via Slumberland.

Watch the Dirty Projectors' new short film - 09.07.2012
The Dirty Projectors have released a new short film, sort of in conjunction with new album Swing Lo Magellan, titled Hi Custodian. The 20-minute film was written and directed by the band's frontman Dave Longstreth, who also stars in the film along with band members Amber Coffman, Haley Dekle, Nat Baldwin and Mike Johnson.
Via Pitchfork, Longstreth describes the film as being "made out of a dream. ...It was so fun getting into these alternate personas, inhabiting them, and I think we came up with some amazing images."
