Sonic Youth announce archival live album - 09.10.2012


While Sonic Youth is on indefinite hiatus, the group is working on releasing some archival material, the first major project being a double-live album recorded in 1985. On Nov. 14, the band will release Smart Bar - Chicago 1985 on CD and 2xLP, via their own Goofin' Records.

The album will feature liner notes from Matador co-owner Gerard Cosloy and longtime engineer Aaron Mullan (Tall Firs, Spectre Folk), as well as photos by Pat Blashill and Steven Koress.

Video: Ty Segall - "The Hill" - 09.10.2012
Ty Segall's third album of 2012, Twins, is out Oct. 9 via Drag City Records. It's first video, however, arrives today. In the clip for "The Hill," dudes in dog costumes play guitar, staticky transmissions blanket everything and a creepy looking woman (?) phases in and out. It's like a highly troubling surveillance cam, in color. Watch it below.



Listen to the new Death Grips track, "@DEATHGRIPZ" - 09.10.2012


As part of the ongoing Adult Swim summer singles series, Death Grips have released a new track named for their Twitter handle: "@DEATHGRIPZ". The track is an outtake from the sessions that yielded their excellent album The Money Store.
