Throbbing Gristle to release Desertshore/The Final Report - 09.20.2012


FACT reports that legendary industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle have unveiled the details of their final album. It's a double-album that includes Desertshore, an album of covers of songs from Nico's Desertshore, and The Final Report, which is a more experimental set.

Desertshore will contain a variety of guest vocalists, including Antony Hegarty, Marc Almond and former pornstar/experimental musician Sasha Grey. According to Self-Titled, following the passing of group member Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson, Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti remain estranged from founding member Genesis P-Orridge.

Desertshore/The Final Report will be released Nov. 26 via Industrial Records. Check out the tracklist and watch a trailer for the albums below.

Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees on Velvet Underground tribute - 09.20.2012


This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Velvet Underground's landmark Velvet Underground & Nico, and a batch of Bay Area garage rockers are paying tribute to the album with their own versions of classic VU tunes. The Velvet Underground & Nico by Castle Face and Friends will be released Nov. 6 through Castle Face (The Oh Sees' John Dwyer's label) and Universal. It's a vinyl-only release, but various tracks will be released digitally between Oct. 15-29.

Dirty Projectors announce new EP - 09.20.2012


Dirty Projectors just released their excellent Swing Lo Magellan a few months ago, but they've already got some more new music to share with us. On Nov. 6, the band is releasing the About To Die EP, which features the title track (originally found on Swing Lo) and three new songs. The EP will be available on 12-inch vinyl and as a digital download.

Fiona Apple arrested for hash possession - 09.20.2012


Uh oh, Fiona Apple's in trouble. TMZ reports that the singer-songwriter was arrested in Sierra Blanca, Texas for hash possession. Apple is being held in a Hudspeth County jail for the time being.

Apple is currently on tour to support her new album, The Idler Wheel, and is scheduled to play Austin City Limits Live tonight. We'll see if that still happens.
