Prince – “Same Page, Different Book”

Prince never completely disappeared, but he’s only come out with a couple non-album singles in the past few years, which adds to the mystery surrounding this. It was “released” by the Twitter account 3rdEyeGirl — an account all but certainly associated with the artist given its history of related announcements. Also, the image used for the YouTube release is that of a girl with a third eye… 

Regardless of where or when all of this comes from, the track is certified, old school funk. Indeed, as has already been speculated online, a message of peace and an NKOTB reference may date this track to an earlier period in Prince’s career, but either way, those two topics combined with the funk aesthetic is a musical place that will never really get old.
