Hear the weird groove of new Cate Le Bon song, “Typical Love”
Earlier this year, Cate Le Bon released the excellent Pompeii, one of our favorite albums of the year so far. And now, half a year later, she’s back with more new music. Today she’s released a new song, “Typical Love,” via Mexican Summer, with an accompanying video that you can check out below. It leans more toward Le Bon’s weirder, more experimental instincts, with some abrasive art-punk sounds that aren’t too removed from her new album, just a little bit more abstract.
“‘Typical Love’ was a product of a rare jam session with dearest genius friend, Stella Mozgawa,” Le Bon said in a press release. “The outline, written on bass along to one of Stella’s infectious grooves, was taken into the Pompeii sessions where I disassembled and reassembled it many times but it always felt like a second cousin to the other tracks so was put aside for a rainy day.”
