Hear Pelican cover Karate’s “Gasoline”

Over the past couple years, Numero Group has reissued the catalog of Boston indie rock group Karate, including the limited edition box set Time Expired, which was released last fall. Today, they’ve followed that up by releasing a new cover of a Karate classic by Chicago post-rock/metal outfit Pelican. The group covers “Gasoline,” from Karate’s 1996 self-titled album, featuring vocals from Pinebender’s Chris Hansen. Pelican’s last album was 2019’s Nighttime Stories. They also just reissued their 2005 album, The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw via Thrill Jockey.
