A little less than a month ago, Kelly Lee Owens announced her new album, LP.8, sharing two new singles, “Sonic 8” and “Olga.” (We named one of those tracks, the harshly buzzing industrial techno of “Sonic 8,” an Essential Track.) And today, after only an abbreviated period of pre-release anticipation, LP.8 is out today via Smalltown Supersound. The album finds Owens collaborating with producer Lasse Marhaug, who has worked with the likes of Jenny Hval and Hilary Woods, and the finished product is something more abrasive and abstract than Owens has ever released. A statement reads that the two artists “envisioned making music somewhere in between Throbbing Gristle and Enya,” and that’s a pretty accurate summary of what it sounds like. LP.8 is out now on digital services now. Hear the album in its entirety below.

LP.8 follows 2020’s Inner Song.
