Light in the Attic Records has announced The Lou Reed Archive Series, an archival releases project being released with cooperation from Reed’s widow, experimental musician Laurie Anderson. The archive comprises previously unreleased music from the legendary singer/songwriter, and kicks off with Words & Music, May 1965, which will be released August 26. The set features early recordings of songs that would later appear on The Velvet Underground & Nico and the band’s 1969 self-titled album, and features some of Reed’s earliest collaborations with John Cale.
