Matador Records to reissue early Butthole Surfers catalog

Matador Records has announced it will be reissuing a series of classic albums by the Butthole Surfers. The label is overseeing digital and physical reissues of the band’s first five albums: 1984’s Psychic…Powerless…Another Man’s Sac, 1986’s Rembrandt Pussyhorse, 1987’s Locust Abortion Technician, 1988’s Hairway to Steven and 1991’s Pioughd. Plus Matador has also said that it plans to release EPs and other material recorded during the Texas noise rock group’s wild first decade.

Physical release dates for the reissues have not yet been announced, but all of these albums are now available on streaming providers, plus Matador has shared a playlist of highlights from the band’s early years, “The Butthole Surfers: 1984-91 A Primer.”
