Nazar announces new album, Demilitarize

Nazar has announced a new album. Five years after his debut, Guerrilla, the Belgian-born artist has announced Demilitarize, which is out April 25 via Hyperdub. Where the artist’s first album was inspired by his father’s role fighting in the civil war in Angola, a press release states that the album was created after being hit by Covid and recuperating for after it left him seriously ill for a year. The first single he’s released is “Anticipate.” Hear it below.
He said in a press release, “With the album being introspective, I didn’t seek to capture sounds from real places to enhance its universe like on Guerrilla. I wanted to make it almost metaphysical like creating sci-fi, with classic cyberpunk anime ‘Ghost In The Shell’ being a core inspiration.”
Nazar’s Guerrilla is featured on our list of 18 Great Albums from 2020 You Might Have Missed.
