New Order were originally supposed to be spending 2020 on tour with fellow synth-pop pioneers Pet Shop Boys, but the pandemic scuttled those plans. New Order’s Bernard Sumner says of the song in a press release, “In tough times we wanted to reach out with a new song. We can’t play live for a while, but music is still something we can all share together. We hope you enjoy it… until we meet again.”
