On April 17, Cincinnati post-punk outfit Choncy release their new album Trademark via Feel It Records. The album’s described in a press statement as a series of “Unpredictable dances between demented dissonance and craggy punches,” and today, they’ve shared the first new single from the album, “Dressing the Part.” The song is an examination of the effect that wardrobe has on their socioeconomic status, and this sartorial meditation is delivered in the form of a wiry, hyper-caffeinated post-punk anthem reminiscent of The Minutemen (particularly those basslines!), Athens, Ga. dance-punk legends Pylon, and Chicago contemporaries Stuck. It’s infectious and abrasive and overflowing with energy. Watch the video clip below and hear the track via Bandcamp.
