Earlier this year, Inara George (The Bird and the Bee) launched the Road Angel project, a series of EPs featuring a variety of artists, released with proceeds to benefit Sweet Relief’s Covid-19 fund. The fourth edition is out today, and we’re sharing a new track from the compilation from Another Bummer titled “Outside.” It’s a gorgeously dreamy, gently psychedelic country-pop song with a sense of dusty openness and a kind of melancholy romanticism.
Another Bummer’s Bella Porter said the following about the track in a statement: “The lyrics to ‘Outside’ were written pretty much in one go. I had the verses and the intention of writing about this very low point in my adolescence. At the end of high school I was with someone I would’ve done anything for, even at my own expense. Over time, the song has evolved from that initial version. My bandmates and best friends, Mallory Hauser and Madi Vogt, really shaped the song into this recorded version. The song was recorded completely live, including the vocals, and now, as we’ve all been forced ‘inside’ for God knows how long, the song has taken on new meaning.”
