Watch the Winston Hightower video for the infectiously fuzzy “On Our Own Time”

On April 17, Columbus artist Winston Hightower will release new album 100 Acre Wood, via Perennial/K. And today, he’s shared a new video for the album’s standout track “On Our Own Time,” shot, directed and edited by Alexis McCrimmon. The clip features Hightower in a number of different wardrobe changes, surrounded by rapidly shifting animations. Meanwhile, the song itself is 85 seconds of wonderfully infectious lo-fi indie pop, carving out a hazy yet melodic middle ground between Guided by Voices and Dean Blunt. It ends far too soon, so you might have to play it a few times. And you can do that below!

Hightower said about the new song in a statement, “it is the 4 personalities of the artist mending into 1; Light, dark, business, art. The mantra ‘on our own time’ is the collaboration between the four personalities and speaks to the mental waves one goes thru when making art and the modes you have to switch into to get it completed.”
