Hear Jesus Is the Path to Heaven’s intense, epic “The Lord Has Bled a Line”

On July 10, North Carolina’s Jesus Is the Path to Heaven will release their third album power!. And despite the implications of the group’s name, the terrain they walk is one in which the church casts a much darker shadow. It’s a harrowing and atmospheric gothic country sound that’s reminiscent of 16 Horsepower, Angels of Light or a particularly apocalyptic Bonnnie “Prince” Billy. It’s chilling, epic stuff.
Today the group have shared the first single from the album, “The Lord Has Bled A Line,” which pairs slowly unfolding instrumentals with an unsettling but powerful vocal delivery, capturing an intense and spiritual feeling in its consistently gripping eight minutes.
The group said about the song in a statement, “The track is about the impossibility of escaping conservative Christianity. No matter how far you run, no matter where you are born, no matter who you are: it will find you.”
