The 2026 Polaris Prize long list has been announced. A total of 40 albums are in contention in the first round of nomination for the prize, which honors the best Canadian album of the year, as determined by a panel of more than 200 critics, curators and broadcasters. Among the nominees are a number of Treble favorites, including Home Front’s Watch It Die, Beverly Glenn-Copeland’s Laughter in Summer, Ora Cogan’s Hard Hearted Woman, No Joy’s Bugland, and Rochelle Jordan’s Through the Wall, as well as previous winners Tanya Tagaq and Kaytranada, plus Daphni, the house alias of Dan Snaith, who won for Caribou’s Andorra in 2008. One of Canada’s buzziest bands of the moment, Angine de Poitrine, is also on the list, in addition to several veteran artists such as Peaches, Holy Fuck and Propagandhi. See the full list below.

The albums short list will be revealed on July 9.
