Watch the video for the dreamy new single from Positioner, “Vines”
On August 25, San Diego indie/math rock group Positioner—featuring former Weatherbox guitarist George Pritzker as well as drummer Drew Pelisek and bassist Jake Kelsoe—will release new album Possession Arrow. Today, they’ve shared a new video for “Vines,” a catchy but intricate single that finds an intersection between breezy hooks, twinkling American Football-style riffs and even a bossa nova intro. The clip, directed by George Pritzker and Cole De La Isla, finds the group performing and having some fun in a handball court. Check it out below.
The group said in a statement, “We shot the video for ‘Vines’ at the handball courts at Robb Field, a public park in our hometown of San Diego. Sports aesthetics has been one of the visual themes we’ve explored as a band through reenactment photos and album art. In the case of this project, we wanted to both highlight an architectural site that resonates with us, and find ways to repurpose it as a theatrical space. We’re grateful to all the handball players for letting us interrupt their morning matches.”
