The Hold Steady have announced a new album. On March 31 the group will release The Price of Progress via Positive Jams/Thirty Tigers. Today they’ve shared a new single, “Sideways Skull,” which you can hear below. The group are also touring in 2023, including a 20th anniversary show in Brooklyn, and other dates planned throughout the year in the U.S. and Europe.

“These are some of the most cinematic songs in The Hold Steady catalog,” said Craig Finn in a press release, “and the record was a joy to make. I feel like we went somewhere we haven’t before, which is a very exciting thing for a band that is two decades into our career.”

The Price of Progress follows 2021’s Open Door Policy.
