Watch Conny Ochs’ video for rustic ballad “Trouble Me”
Conny Ochs is set to release a new album, Troubadour, on October 25 via Exile on Mainstream. And today, the German singer/songwriter—whose work includes the dark electronics of Trialogos, collabs with Scott “Wino” Weinrich and more—has shared a new video for “Trouble Me,” a soulful and bluesy ballad that reflects more of his folk and country influences. It’s a warm and gentle song that evokes singer/songwriters such as Townes Van Zandt, whom Ochs spoke to us about earlier this year.
Ochs said in a statement, “’Trouble Me’ is about all that you can’t leave behind. Playing all your best tricks, and knowing all escape routes, still you carry your ghosts, your love, and your longing with you. I was intrigued to reflect on both parts of that model: You cannot shake the struggle, that is what you are made of, even if you try your hardest, but you will also never fall off the wagon that carries your visions, your love, and your dreams. To me, that duality is somehow captured in this song, and the universality I feel when I play it is something I wanted to share with the audience right away.”
