Watch the new Tunnel video for catchy indie anthem “Lemonhead”
On July 15, Tunnel—the project of singer/songwriter Natasha Janfaza—will release new EP Vanilla via House of Joy. The EP features Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty, and today Tunnel releases a new video for “Lemonhead,” directed by Katie Alice Greer, formerly of Priests. The clip is awash in shades of yellow (naturally), with Janfaza surrounded by lemons, serving them up with a racket on a tennis court (while wearing a yellow tennis skirt), and drinking a Pacifico in a bathtub—full of lemons. It’s a visually stimulating accompaniment to the song itself, which pairs bright hooks, an emotionally charged chorus and moments of shoegaze density into an anthem that at times feels reminiscent of some of the greatest moments in ’90s indie rock while remaining entirely modern.
A statement accompanying the release of the song describes it as a “soft and cruel single, like the Evan Dando-fronted band of the same name.” And that Janfaza has “a voice in control of her many moods, down to mix them up into one remarkably lucid piece of art that doesn’t deign to hide itself in any way.”
