Pharmakon releases Bestial Burden short film
In October, Pharmakon released the chilling and often terrifying Bestial Burden, which certainly stands as one of the most intense listens of 2014. And today, Sacred Bones has released a short film companion to the album. It’s a 16-minute short film directed by Chardiet with mixed media artist Nina Hartmann. It opens with a shot similar to that of the cover art, depicting a woman’s body covered with meat and organs, which soon get ripped apart by some mysterious hands. It’s a little on the disturbing side, certainly, but soon enough it gets into some performance-based footage, and is a pretty cool watch on the whole.
Chardiet says of the film, in a press release, “The actions aim to break through barriers of live and recorded performance, into the immediate reality. The video extends the music and aesthetics of the album into their visceral forms, and serves as the bodily/visual pairing to coincide with the record, ‘Bestial Burden’.”
