Destroyer – “Times Square”
On Aug. 28, Destroyer releases his latest album, Poison Season (our new Album of the Week), and Dan Bejar has already released one video from the album, for the stark “Girl In a Sling.” Today, he’s released another one, for album highlight “Times Square,” which features some cool, silly stop-motion animation that is actually pretty trippy. There’s a brain with a face, a wooden sign that sings, a colorful blob plugging in a cell phone, a patch of moss with a face, and Bejar himself, in the flesh, not the clay. The clip is directed and animated by Shayne Ehman, and it’s a fun watch; you might be reminded a little of The Labyrinth, actually, even though those were puppets. Anyhow, watch the Destroyer “Times Square” video below and see what happens when art rock and claymation collide.
