Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace to host ‘True Trans’ web series
After releasing the highly acclaimed album Transgender Dysphoria Blues, Against Me! singer and songwriter Laura Jane Grace will now be hosting a new original series on AOL called “True Trans With Laura Jane Grace.” The series will run for 10 episodes, and will focus on Laura’s own personal story of gender identity, as well as the stories of other transgender people in the United States. The series is a short-form, documentary style program, and will show some of the true-life issues that come with one’s own struggle with gender identity. It will also focus on life after transition, including Grace’s own life as a parent and professional musician.
“The opportunity I had while shooting this show was nothing short of tremendous,” Grace says in a press release. “Getting the chance to listen to other people tell their stories of how life shaped their identities and views on gender couldn’t help but further inform my own understanding of just how complicated and also how simple all of it really is.”
The first four episodes will be released on Oct. 10, in an advance celebration of National Coming Out Day, which is Oct. 11. Watch the trailer for the series below.
