SML announces new album, How You Been

Los Angeles jazz supergroup SML (aka Small Medium Large)—comprising bassist Anna Butterss, synthesist Jeremiah Chiu, saxophonist Josh Johnson, drummer Booker Stardrum, and guitarist Gregory Uhlmann—have announced a new album. On Nov. 7 they’ll release How You Been via International Anthem. Today they’ve released a new track, “Taking Out the Trash,” which you can hear below.
How You Been follows 2024’s Small Medium Large, which was featured on our list of the Best Jazz Albums of 2024, along with Anna Butterss’ Mighty Vertebrate and Jeff Parker ETA IVtet’s The Way Out of Easy, which features both Butterss and Johnson. Earlier this year, Jeremiah Chiu and Marta Sofia Honer released their new album, Different Rooms.
