Sturgill Simpson surprise releases new Johnny Blue Skies album, Mutiny After Midnight, on YouTube

Sturgill Simpson recently revealed the details of his new album as Johnny Blue Skies, Mutiny After Midnight, which is due for release on March 13 via Atlantic Outpost. What was originally billed as a physical-only release has since been surprise-released early on YouTube, two weeks ahead of its official release date. In a post on Instagram, Simpson posted a link to the album with the caption, “Oops,…mighta just posted the whole fuk’n album on YouTube…for the real ones.”

Simpson had previously said that he set out to make a dance record, and this one’s a lot more groovy than his previous (and excellent!) Johnny Blue Skies record, Passage du Desir, which was considerably more melancholy. Hear Mutiny After Midnight in its entirety below.
