Hear it foot, it ears bang out an oddball no wave groove on “Doomed vacuum duet (with Lo)”

Experimental Salt Lake city duo it foot, it ears will release their new album Tip Toe Loops on May 22. They’ve already shared one track from the album, “it Sermonette,” and today, they’ve followed that with another new song, “Doomed vacuum duet with Lo.” A buoyant and bonkers new wave clanger, “Doomed vacuum duet” merges avant garde instrumentation and tonalities with an undeniable groove, finding a twitchy kind of catchiness in their oddball approach, smuggling accessibility into an art-damaged approach. The group said about the new track in a statement, “Starting with just a shovel and a mallet, ‘Doomed vacuum duet with Lo’ builds with a (poly)rhythm section using sandpaper swipes and a hobbled baseline (performed on prepared guitar). The birds gradually swarm in—guitar thimble squeaks, accompanied by soprano sax and ornithology samples. ‘Doomed vacuum duet’ is about all of life’s garbage (physical and otherwise) that piles up and weighs us down. Featuring feel-good musician Logan Hone on soprano sax, along with an ensemble of common household items (shovel, pot tops, dog food scoops…), this piece embraces any beautiful sounding debris of life.”
