billy woods announces new album Golliwog

The consistently great, prolific rapper billy woods has announced a new album. On May 9 he’ll release Golliwog via Backwoodz. The first song he’s shared is “Misery,” which was produced by Kenny Segal. Hear it below.
In a statement, woods said about the new album: “When I was nine years old I wrote a story about an evil golliwog. My mother read it and told me it was overly derivative and needed some work. Here we are.”
Golliwog features appearances from Bruiser Wolf, Despot, Cavalier, al.divino, Yolanda Watson and woods’ Armand Hammer partner ELUCID. In addition to Segal, it features production from The Alchemist, El-P, Shabaka Hutchings, Steel Tipped Dove, Ant (Atmosphere), Conductor Williams, Preservation and more.
Golliwog follows 2023’s Maps. Aethiopes, woods’ 2022 album, is also featured on our list of the 100 Best Albums of the Decade So Far.
