Philadelphia’s Blood debut hazy new art-punk anthem “One Dimensional Man”
On August 2, Philadelphia’s Blood will release their debut album, Loving You Backwards, which was produced by Daniel Enrique Howard and will be released via Ramp Local. And today, the group have shared the first single from the album, “One Dimensional Man,” which arrives via a tense new video. “One Dimensional Man” is a hazy and atmospheric post-punk track that courses with layered psychedelic elements and a mesmerizingly ornate arrangement. Its swirl of elements and rhythmic complexity brings to mind the darkly intricate sounds of recent releases from Protomartyr and Iceage, and it’s a spectacular showcase for a band on the rise in 2024. Hear it and see the clip below.
Bandleader Tim O’Brien said that with this record he “felt liberated to let the femme shades of my voice show on record for the first time and allowed my first true love for pop melodies to come to the surface.”
