Denver doom metal outfit BleakHeart release their new album Dream Griever on Friday, October 23. Ahead of its release, Treble is streaming the album in its entirety. It’s a dark, atmospheric set of shoegaze-tinged gothic doom, with heroic vocals and an emotional weight as heavy as its riffs. The band was formed by JP Damron (In the Company of Serpents, Vermin Womb) and Kelly Schilling (Dreadnought), and you can hear traces of those bands’ influence, but the group have crafted an aesthetic all their own here, at times veering into the atmospheric realms of post-metal while always returning to a massive, climactic moment. Like any good doom metal, it’s perfect for October listening, but carries an attractive gloom that remains appealing throughout the season.
