McKinley Dixon announces new album, Magic, Alive!

McKinley Dixon has announced a new album. On June 6, the Richmond-born, Chicago-based hip-hop artist will release Magic, Alive! via City Slang. The album features appearances from Blu, Ghais Guevara, Shamir and Pink Siifu (who just released his own excellent new album, BLACK’!ANTIQUE), among others. Today he’s shared “Sugar Water,” which features Quelle Chris and Anjimile. Hear it below.

Dixon said in a statement, “‘Sugar Water’ is a discussion on how to make fleeting moments last forever, and how to carry those not here with you through time and space. It raises the question ‘what’s the price to pay for an eternal life lived through others memories?’” He raps : “I guess if it don’t kill you, make you harder /Bring him back just for my heart?/ Shit, it seem an easy barter.”
