Nirvana, The Replacements, N.W.A. nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has revealed its long list of nominees for 2014 (via Rolling Stone), and there are some names we’ve been waiting to see for a while: Nirvana, The Replacements and N.W.A., for starters. The list also includes Peter Gabriel, Chic, Linda Ronstadt, The Zombies, The Meters, Hall and Oates, Kiss, LL Cool J, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Deep Purple, Link Wray and Yes.
Bands are eligible for Hall of Fame induction 25 years after the release of their first single or album. Which means that a lot of artists have yet to be recognized despite meeting the requirements, but we won’t get into that right now. You can vote on who should get inducted over at Rolling Stone. The final results will be announced “soon,” per the Rock Hall, and in 2014 will be officially inducted with a live ceremony featuring performances by some of the honorees.
In related-ish news, Treble has launched its own Hall of Fame in honor of our 10th anniversary. Cough.
