Shabaka and the Ancestors to release new album, tour in 2020
Shabaka Hutchings has had an eventful couple of years with his jazz groups Sons of Kemet and The Comet Is Coming, and 2020 is looking to be a big one for his South African-based spiritual jazz outfit, Shabaka and the Ancestors. Early next year they’ll be releasing a new album via Impulse! as he revealed via social media, though details haven’t yet been revealed. They’ll also be touring North America in the coming year. Shabaka and the Ancestors’ Wisdom of Elders was featured on our list of the 10 Best Jazz Albums of 2016. The Comet is Coming’s Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery is on this year’s.
