Kendrick Lamar to be first musical guest on Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show”
Stephen Colbert makes the transition from satirical talk show host on The Colbert Report to the new host of “The Late Show,” on Sept. 8 on CBS. And Colbert will be bringing back a familiar musical guest: Kendrick Lamar. Lamar was the final musical guest on The Colbert Report last year, and performed “Untitled,” which did not end up on To Pimp a Butterfly, which was released just a few months later. Variety reports that Colbert says it’s only appropriate that the last musical guest on his previous show be the first musical guest on his new show. George Clooney will also appear on the first episode, and Colbert recently announced that New Orleans musician John Batiste will be his musical director.

To Pimp a Butterfly is one of our favorite albums of 2015 so far.
