Bill Callahan has announced a new album. On Feb. 27, he’ll release My Days of 58 via Drag City. It’s his first new album in three years, and the first song he’s shared is “The Man I’m Supposed to Be.” Hear it below.

The album features Callahan backed by guitarist Matt Kinsey, saxophonist Dustin Laurenzi and drummer Jim White, who were also his touring band behind 2022’s YTI⅃AƎЯ. Callahan said of his time playing and collaborating with these musicians, “Improv/unpredictability/the unknown is the thing that keeps me motivated to keep making music. It’s all about listening to yourself and others. A lot of the best parts of a recording are the mistakes — making them into strengths, using them as springboards into something human.”

Bill Callahan’s Dream River is featured on our list of Our 150 Favorite Indie Rock Albums of the 21st Century.
