Indianapolis post-black metal trio Chrome Waves—featuring members of Amiensus and ex-members of Wolvhammer and Skeletonwitch—are releasing their new album Where We Live on September 25 via Disorder Records. They’ve already shared a couple of tracks, but they have another new one titled “Spoonfed” that they’re debuting today. It’s a gloomy, atmospheric track with strings and goth-rock guitars, building up into a heavier goth-metal dirge. It’s melancholy and atmospheric, just in time for fall.

The band’s James Benson said this about the track: “’Spoonfed’ was written from the perspective of my ‘real job.’ For the past seven years I’ve been working as a drug and alcohol counselor; specifically, working with opiate addiction for the past six years. It’s a terrible epidemic affecting not only the United States but hitting the Midwest especially hard over the last decade. I’d like to dedicate this song to those who are suffering from addiction, especially to opioids.”
