Gold Dust, aka singer/songwriter Stephen Pierce, recently announced the details of new album The Late Great Gold Dust, which is out November 4 via Centripetal Force. He also shared the single “Proof of Life,” which we named an Essential Track. Now, Pierce has another new song to share, featuring some indie rock guitar royalty. “Larks Swarm A Hawk” is the second single from the album, and it features J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. It’s still in the vein of Gold Dust’s psychedelic folk sounds, but with some spectacular guitar heroics for good measure—you’ll know that guitar sound when you hear it. Hear it below.

Pierce says in a statement, “In ‘Larks Swarm a Hawk,’ I’m looking inward as if staring at one of those “you are here” shopping mall maps, recognizing the things about myself that I don’t like, trying to find the goddamn food court, and hoping to see to some shift towards betterment from the inside out.”

The Late Great Gold Dust follows 2021’s Gold Dust.
