Janelle Monáe’s The Electric Lady to feature Prince, Miguel
Janelle Monáe has collaborated with a pretty impressive list of artists, including Outkast’s Big Boi, Of Montreal and fun. But with the latest news concerning her new album The Electric Lady, the follow-up to 2010’s The ArchAndroid, it appears Monáe has scored her most impressive guest-star coup to date: Prince. Per a Billboard report, Prince will appear on The Electric Lady, as will Miguel, who shows up on a track called “Primetime,” which samples The Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?”
In the Billboard story, Monáe says of Prince, “We are great friends, and he is a mentor to us, to me.”
“It’s a beautiful thing to have a friend,” she continues, “someone who cares about your career, and wants to see you go far and to push boundaries and shake up the world — give whatever they possibly can to the cause.”
The name of the track(s) Prince appears on has not yet been announced. The Electric Lady will be released in September. Watch the video for new single “Q.U.E.E.N.S.” below.
