Prince estate announces new archival album, Piano & A Microphone: 1983
Prince‘s estate has announced a new album of unreleased material from the late artist’s archive. Today would have been Prince’s 60th birthday, and to mark the occasion, Warner Bros. will be releasing Piano & A Microphone: 1983, an album recorded at his home in Minnesota in 1983 during a rehearsal. It’s out September 14. The album features versions of songs such as “Purple Rain,” Sign O’ the Times‘ “Strange Relationship,” “17 Days” (a b-side to “When Doves Cry”) and a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You.” A new track has been shared from the album, “Mary Don’t You Weep,” which will also be featured in the new Spike Lee film, BlacKkKlansman.
