Xiu Xiu kicked off the year with the release of their covers album, Xiu Mutha Fuckin’ Xiu: Vol. 1, and now they’re following it up with Eraserhead Xiu Xiu. The album is described as “an exploration of the sonic and visual universe that is Eraserhead,” and it’ll be released on July 10 via Polyvinyl. Today they’ve shared a video for “In Heaven,” which you can check out below.

The Xiu Xiu Eraserhead project began a decade ago when the band performed Eraserhead concerts on tour—with the blessing of both David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti—pairing their sonic interpretations with its visuals, which they ended in 2018. But after the passing of Lynch in 2024, there was a demand for them to revive the performances, which they’re continuing to play this year. This album stems from those performances, alternately described in a press release as “sound collage and experimentation” and “grotesque cacophony.”
