Tom Waits, Elvis Costello to appear on Letterman final shows
David Letterman is retiring as the host of The Late Show with David Letterman, and the show has announced the musical guests for its final 28 episodes. Entertainment Weekly reports that Tom Waits will make an appearance in the show’s final episodes, as will Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Dave Matthews Band and Mumford & Sons. Iron & Wine and Band of Horses’ Ben Bridwell will perform together on Wednesday night’s show.
It hasn’t yet been announced whether Costello or Waits will actually be performing music, and not just being interviewed, though we’ll find out soon. Other guests scheduled to appear on the show during its final run include Steve Martin, Tina Fey, Scarlett Johansson, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks and Jerry Seinfeld. Letterman’s final show will be on May 20. Afterward, Stephen Colbert will take over as host of The Late Show.
