The Sled Island festival takes place again this year from June 22-26 in Calgary, Alberta. Its lineup has just been announced, and it’s loaded with impressive names. Headlining the festival this year are Ohio indie rock icons Guided by Voices, reunited yet again after a series of on-again, off-again years. Other bands on the Sled Island 2016 lineup include Peaches, Deafheaven, Built to Spill, Angel Olsen, HEALTH, The Sonics, Julia Holter, Protomartyr, Psychic TV, Suuns, New Bomb Turks, Dawn of MIDI, Duchess Says, Tortoise and Radioactivity.
This is just the first round of bands to be announced, with more to come in the months ahead. A statement from the festival says that more than 250 artists will be performing this year.
Sled Island takes place in more than 35 venues across Calgary, with a central outdoor stage featuring some of its biggest acts. More information can be found here.
