Daveed Diggs of clipping. wins a Tony award for Hamilton
Daveed Diggs, emcee in Los Angeles noise-rap outfit clipping., has won a Tony. The rapper picked up the award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Thomas Jefferson in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s historical hip-hop musical Hamilton, which swept the Tony Awards this year. Hamilton picked up 11 awards out of its record 16 nominations in this year’s Tonys, including Best Musical, Best Performance of a Leading Actor in a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Book of a Musical, Best Costume Design, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Orchestrations and Best Choreography.
In Miranda’s acceptance speech, he paid tribute to the victims of the shooting in Orlando last night. Watch the video of that speech below, along with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama’s introduction of the performance.
